The whale sharks,said to be harmless,friendly,and playful,actually interact with humans as they swim alongside the boats.
Sorsogon is thought to have the highest concentration of whale sharks found anywhere in the world and is the only place where they can be spotted from a boat as they are found in waters close to shore and are accessible to observers. The area has been declared a whale shark protected area.
How to get there:
By Land: From Manila there are many different buses that have regular routes to most districts of Bicol (Camarines Sur,Camarines Norte,Albay,and Sorsogon). The ride takes about 10 to 12 hours from Manila.
By Air: From Manila there are regular flights to Legazpi City via Philippine Airlines.
From Legazpi take a bus going to the Sorsogon town proper.
