It was established by the former President Ferdinand Marcos on Aug. 31,1976 in response to a call from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature to help save African wildlife,in the 3rd World Conference in Kenya. It is a sanctuary of exotic African animals and endangered endemic animals of Palawan. Animals are free-ranging offering the experience of a true to life African safari. Overnight accomodations are available as the best time to see the animals is at dawn when they come out to feed.
HOW TO GET THERE:
There are Asian Spirit and SeaAir flights from Manila to Busuanga Airport where a jeepney ride is 45 minutes to Coron Town. From Coron rent a van or jeep to Calauit Island,a 4-6 hour land trip away.
