Putipot is a Filipino word 'puti' which means 'white' and 'po' which is a word of respect akin to 'sir' or 'ma'am'. From the mainland,it glistens as its whiteness reflects the sunlight in the distance, looking like a long stream of white light. The clear turquise waters invite one to snorkel or take a dip. Putipot is a short 5 minute boat ride across from the mainland, and is thus popular as a day picnic area to resort guests.
How to get there:
Airconditioned buses leave daily from Manila to Olongapo City. From Olongapo there are connecting buses that ply the single main highway northward to Sta. Cruz at the tip of the province, the town just after Candelaria. One can get off at Candelaria and take a tricycle or jeepney towards the water's edge where there are resorts available or individual boat owners who can take you over to Putipot for a small fee. From door to door the trip will take you about 6 hours.
