The majestic Mayon Volcano is located in Albay Province. The volcano is named after a beautiful maiden,"Magayon",which means beautiful as Mayon Volcano is known as having the most perfect cone shape among all the volcanoes in the world. It 's exquisite cone-shaped appearance disguises a startling unpredictability well known to the residents of Albay, behaving with little warning, like a raging dragon, chasing the startled locals with flaming lava and layers of ash out of their houses. Inspite of this however, it is still regarded as an ideal destination for an ultimate climb. Many aspire to reach its summit but because of its intimidating nature,Philippine volcanologists have advised those who come only for sightseeing to stay at the view point located at the mid part of the volcano called the Mayon Rest House. There are skilled mountaineers who have already reached its crater but advise caution of their successors. Although a thrilling experience no doubt, the climb is tough and requires strong endurance, courage, and knowledge on volcanic topography.
