About 170-km southeast of Manila rises the majestic 2,188-meter MOUNT BANAHAW. This volcano is also known as "vulcan de aqua" because of numerous springs that flow from the base. This mountain is considered sacred by the local residents and there are many legends and superstitions attached to it. Seventeen religious sects with different beliefs and rituals endow it with mysticism. Here a clear blend of Filipino religious fanaticism and superstitious beliefs is evident.
How to get there:
The province of Quezon is accessible to Manila and its neighboring provinces via a network of roads regularly plied by various bus lines.
You may also access the mountain from the south,through Lumban,Laguna,about 3 hours away from Manila.
