Hundred Islands National Park   (Alaminos City, Pangasinan, Luzon)

The Hundred Islands National Park offers enthusiasts the unique opportunity to see birds while inside a boat, although it is possible to trek the islands and visit the nests up close. Bird colonies harbor terns and herons in large numbers, while other islands host species of pitas and flycatchers. The strict adherence of the local government to protect the wildlife also contributes to ideal birdwatching opportunities along the coast and mangrove areas. Here,a multitude of ducks and other waders can be seen during the low tide.

Resident birds and herons can be viewed all year round. The best time for spotting migratory birds is from September to April. Local guides are available to point out birding sites and identify species. The park fee is Php 20,with an overnight fee of Php 40.

Getting there:
Alaminos City is located about 250 km from Manila. Via the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX),travel time is 4-5 hours. Various commuter buses service the route between Manila and Alaminos City. From the wharf area at Barangay Lucap, one can take a boat to reach any of the islands.
