Baler Church and La Campana de Baler   (Baler, Aurora, Luzon)

Baler Church occupies a prominent position in Philippine history as the last Spanish garrison for four officers and fifty men who fought off American troops and Filipino insurgents until their surrender on July 2,1899. Instead of treating the soldiers as prisoners of war,President Emilio Aguinaldo called on the Filipino soldiers to treat them as friends. The church is also where the La Campana de Baler,an ancient bell,was used and later stored as a relic.
