Calayan is an island and 4th class municipality in the province of Cagayan,Philippines. It's virginal powdery white sand beaches await the adventurous amidst unexplored falls,rock formations and a chance to see a new bird species,locally called "Piding" (galliralus calayanensis) believed to be found nowhere else in the world but on the secluded island of Calayan. It is home to the Calayan Rail,a flightless bird identified as a separate species in 2004.

By air: Tuguegarao City the Capital of Cagayan may be reached by plane from Manila. The travel time is about 50 minutes.
By land: Tuguegarao City the regional center can be reached by air conditioned buses in 9-11 hours from Manila.
