Home to the 848th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron,Wallace Air Station was formally turned over by the United States to the Republic of the Philippines on September 16,1991. The 101-hectare base land, located at the end of Poro Point,San Fernando, was acquired in 1903 for the United States Cavalry. Originally Camp Wallace, the facility was named in honor of Second Lieutenant George W. Wallace,a recipient of the Medal of Honor, killed in combat on the 4th of March 1900,in the Philippines. In November of 1903,President Theodore Roosevelt, signed an executive order establishing Camp Wallace and Camp John Hay in Baguio City. Currently,Wallace Air Station is overseen by the Conversion Development Authority for its conversion into a prime tourism and industrial estate.
Camp Wallace has a variety of sites that one may visit to understand how it was once used, such as: The Voice of America Antennas, which maintained a broadcast facility on Poro point.  Although they had their own buildings in a separate compound, their broadcast antennas were scattered all over Poro point. The Operations Compound,a fenced area that contained the two radar antennae, the operations building, security police, operations support, and the power generation facility. The Old Lighthouse, rumored to have been built before World War II,with steps leading down to the beach, these steps however are no longer accessible to the public as they are no longer safe. The Helipad: The Camp had some fuel tanks, and was able to provide fuel for the occasional helo.  A few CH-3s from Clark AFB,and the occasional Navy chopper would drop by. Wallace Air Base also had its very own
Golf Course.
