Balete Park   (Maria Aurora, Aurora, Luzon)

Home to Asia's largest Banyan Tree, estimated to be more than half a century old,the Balete Tree as called by the locals, stands at 50m in height and around 10 to 15 meters in diameter. Equivalent to about 62 men,arm in arm,the Tree's trunk has,due to age, grown above ground causing caves to form under a variety of sections of its trunk; likewise enabling people to squeeze into the heart of its root network.
Barangay Qurino's ecological wonder, also named the official "Millennium Tree" of the Philippines,  remains one of the most visited tourist spots in Aurora.

How to get there:

By land: You can catch an 8 hour bus ride from Manila to Baler.

By air: one can opt to take the 45-minute flight with SEAir,which flies to and from Baler twice a week; from baler one may hire a jeep for the rest of the 12 kms to get to Maria Aurora.

Getting around by sea is limited to short banca trips. There are no commercial ferry services available.
