There are theater groups with varying objectives in mounting stage plays and one of those that have been successful through the years is THE COMMUNITY-BASED THEATER GROUP: BUKAWEL PERFORMING ARTS (CBTG) whose objective is to train and develop local talents for stage production. Bukawel started in 1985 as a church-based program that gathered an initial of 25 members from the 16 provinces of Luzon. Its main thrust then was alternative education through social transformation.

CBTG's major productions include Pasyon ng Bayang Pilipino (Passion of the Philippine Province),Court of the Last Resort,Ang Lupa ay Atin (The Land is Ours) and Juan Adre. All their productions fall under the aim to depict the different realities and conditions of the people. This in turn equips the communities to better understand the issues,concerns and conditions of the fellow Filipinos so that they could act upon the struggle for social transformation.

CBTG regularly holds tours,theater seasons,festivals,workshops and seminars in Luzon.
